Alliance Normandy SR2 by nico89-fx Alliance Normandy SR2 by nico89-fx
My proudest piece of 3d work ever was the SR2, and since BioWare launched a fanart contest, I decided to redo some of the geometry and paint in some textures in accordance with the Normandy's new owner: The Systems Alliance.
Autodesk 3dsMax + Mental Ray + AE + PS + AI (quite a few, right?)
Wallpaper version is 8:5, there's also a 300dpi A3 pdf ready for print(that's the one I've submitted)

C&C are always more than welcome.

I've posted in your blog, but I wanted to thank you personally as well for taking the time to do these things. It's nice to see people appreceating what I, or any artist does, and making sure it stays just that way. Thank you, truly.

Top Speed equates to Warp 3.7 in Star Trek :)....for the mid 22nd century where ME is set...that's very respectable :)

Is the size accurate? 384m would make it 100m bigger than the USS Enterprise (Kirk)

No, it's not, it's actually smaller than the 1701. I've revisited this model, refined it and doubled checked all of the data as well and have come to far more accurate figures: nico89-fx.deviantart.com/art/N...

Wasn't the SR2 twice as big as the SR1? So if it was 216 it would've been 108m, might be accurate. Who knows.

So have I!(Couldn't help it) I noticed most of my hits (and also misses) with the paintjob. I'm building a new, more detailed mesh for the release of 3. The demo's really helped with the details so far. And, it's as good as a demo can get. I can't wait for the whole thing!

Awesome piece, dude. Just one comment: in the Status column (in the description), I think it should rather say "Operational" (I'm guessing that's what you meant to say), rather than "Operative". Operative is more of a rank you give to people. When you talk about statuses, you say Operational.

Other than that, amazing job! I approve this deviation!

Hey there, thanks for the comment and the tip! I don't even know how that slipped past me. Guess I was way too 'polluted' with the image already to pick on the military jargon mistakes. =)

A glitch occured to where my question was gone.

You're sure that's the right length?

Oh no, not at all.. The scale i took when I got that was pretty much off, thus making this much bigger than the SR2 actually is.
It's approximate lenght is, as a matter of fact, 220 meters..

Looks great, you just kinda did this design not knowing that that's what Bioware actually did? The only issue I got though, is no way in hell that's 384 meters! haha Seriously though, why the hell haven't I started watching you already... XD I am now though.

I made some of it up by myself from a very early photo of the scale model, which was like a bunch of pixels, so it didn't show much, I mainly took the color scheme from it, other things were just lucky guesses.
And I know it's not that big, but when I modelled it and first uploaded it here [link] I miscalculated by a bit, and it kinda sticked to it from then on. =)
Thanks for the watch, by the way!

You were pretty close! If I can trust a source, which I believe I can, since he's building the thing for real on a pretty massive scale (1/180), the Normandy is 216 meters long, 96 meters wide and 23 meters tall, which is nothing short of huge either way, like 3 747's, or so!

Yea, I saw that as well, haven't seen any progress for a while though haha, 144 meters if the airlock is 1.5 meters wide, and 216 if it's 2 meters, imagine a lifesized model though o.O

what does c x 77 mean? im sorry im not good on speed multipliers :(

:iconnico89-fx:
nico89-fx Featured By Owner Nov 28, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
C stands for 'Speed of light in Vacuum' Something like 300.000 (rnd) Kilometers per second, which times 77 gives you about 83 Billion Kilometers per hour. Which of course is a number I made up 'cos 77 looked like a cool multiplier.. It's a ridiculuos non-relativistic speed, and as they sort of use lightspeed as a measure in ME universe, I thought I wouldn't say something like 'warp factor 3' or stuff like that. Really nothing, I made it up =P

Fully upgraded EDI- nice! :)

I like the new color schemes (both the one here and the one in the official trailer). In fact, if you inverted the blue and white in this version, it would nearly match my Shepard's ME2 armor. :XD:

Awesome Job :D I just really hope that knowing some idiots we know in the Alliance don't go "Oh, Thanix cannons are too dangerous to have on an ALLIANCE ship! Lets take them out since we all know Shepard is crazy and that Reapers don't exist..."

Seriously, we're going to need some that we used to fully upgrade the normandy if we ever want a chance to even damage or destroy reapers! Remember how effective the Thanix cannons were against the collector ship?

Well, the Alliance knows the reapers are real. Hell, we've got Anderson and Admiral Hackett on our side, so they damn well better leave those cannons where they were, even if "we have to make some calibrations" (=
Besides, the turians are developing them, they wouldn't wanna be left behind.

And yeah, on my first playthrough, the first thing I upgraded was those cannons, which from garrus' words carried "one hell of a punch"... I thought they were gonna be some decent stuff, nothing special. But when time came to use them and I saw those big things coming out I said "NOW I understand, poor collectors".. I had a freakin grin on my face for quite some time after blasting them into oblivion (=

Yeah, but then you have some real jerks in the Alliance like Udina and the whats his face inspector from ME1 who completely critizes you like hell about how you ran your ship and crew. I mean, who knows what kind of crap some of the Alliance officials are going to pull up during Shepard's trial in the begining of ME3, epecially with what happened during the Arrival dlc of Mass Effect 2. I mean, I played a Colonist/War Hero Shepard who followed the path of the Paragon, saved the Citadel council, kept Wrex alive, recruited and earned every loyalty of my squadmates, kepted them all alive plus all my other crewmembers "No ONe Gets Left Behind", and destroyed the collector base.

I just really hope I get to prove Shepard's good will and what not, not be judged by one decision that there was no way around. Hell, I even sent a distress call to the Batarian colonists to try to get them to escape the system in time.
